Green Flag status continues for North Wirral Coastal Park

North Wirral Coastal Park, which stretches along the coast from Wallasey to Leasowe, has been awarded a ‘Green Flag’ – the national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK.  The Award was first launched in 1996 to recognise and reward the best green spaces in the country.

As a member of the Friends of North Wirral Coastal Park I am delighted that all their hard work has been recognised.  Congratulations to John, Martin and all the other volunteers who do such a fabulous job.  If you’d like to know more about the ‘Friends’ group, want to get involved or help them by becoming a member, go to their website here.

In order to achieve Green Flat status parks are assessed on eight key criteria:

  1. Health, safety and security
  2. Maintenance of equipment, buildings and landscape
  3. Litter, cleanliness and vandalism
  4. Environmental sustainability
  5. Conservation of heritage and nature
  6. Community involvement
  7. Market strategy
  8. Overall management

  1. Well done to the Friends of the NWCP I know the work they do as I lived and worked on that park for about 17 years. I remember the Friends being set up as the friends of the gun site and now look at them, taking on the whole park and getting a green flag, well done to everyone involved the park looks better than it has in years.
