About Leah
Leah first joined the Conservatives when she wanted to improve a play area, Wallacre Park near her home. After working with residents, almost £100,000 was raised for new equipment. Soon after, Leah was elected to represent Liscard and Egremont on Wirral Borough Council, defeating a senior Labour councillor.
Leah was raised in Wallasey and attended St Georges Primary School and Weatherhead School for Girls. Leah is married and has two children. Her late father-in-law was Ian Fraser VC.
Locally, Leah is a Governor at the Oldershaw School and a member of the Friends of the North Wirral Coastal Park, she is an ambassador for Girlguiding and an active supporter of local community and voluntary groups such as the North West Cancer Research
Leah was elected Councillor for Wallasey Ward in May 2012 by a majority of 1,062 votes over the Labour candidate. You can see the full result here
Leah was first elected Councillor in 2003 and also stood for Parliament in 2005 and 2010, increasing the Conservative vote each time. Six months after the election, Labour finally apologised for misleading statements in the campaign and paid Leah’s legal costs of £3,500 and agreed not to use such tactics again.
