Sea Sunday 2009

2009 July 12
by Leah Fraser

Earlier this evening, to celebrate Sea Sunday, I attended a ‘Service for Seafarers’, which is a day to remember, and pray for, seafarers, their famiies and the Church’s ministry to them, at St James’ Church in New Brighton.

The Church was packed with over 150 people attending as well as the deputy Mayor and his wife.  It was also good to see our local Sea Cadets from the training ship, Astute, as well as representatives from our Lifeboat Station at the service.  There was a very entertaining, but serious  sermon by the Rev Gregor Cuff – Honorary Chaplain, Mersey Mission to Seafarers and afterwards everyone got together over a glass of wine or two!
