Seabank Road – Traffic Speed
This afternoon I delivered a letter to residents of Mariner’s Park, updating them on our request to the Council for a safer crossing at this location. However, the Council has placed this at number 31 on a borough-wide list and have said it would cost in the region of £60,000 to £80,000.
But, I have also met with officers of Merseytravel and they have offered around £15,000 towards the cost of making this road safer. I will now be contacting the Council again to see if this ‘new’ money will enable the Council to meet the difference.
In the meantime the Council also have money which is spent on projects requested by residents. One of the items available for us to ‘buy’ include a vehicle-activted sign. These signs do reduce the average vehicle speed on a road but, as with all things, they won’t stop the irresponsible driver or those who ‘couldn’t care less’.
To help secure the funding for the Pedestrian Refuge and/or a vehicle-activated sign the Council requires as many residents as possible to complete a form. The more forms that are completed, the better chance we have. To obtain a form call 0151 691 8026 or email engage@wirral.gov.uk. Completed forms must be returned by 28 August.
