With two lunch club regulars!

Yesterday lunchtime I called into the Autumn Club at Leasowe Community Centre.  It meets three times a week and provides lunch for the over 55s.

It was sausage and mash on the menu, cooked by Sue.   They’re a lively group of people who enjoy getting out of the house and meeting up.  There’s also a mini bus organised to pick up anyone who isn’t mobile or who doesn’t have their own transport.lme-comm-lunch-volunteers-apr-094

Afterwards there’s a game of bingo over a cup of tea!   The club wouldn’t be able to function if it wasn’t for the help of the volunteers, Paula, Danielle and Leah who do a great job; from serving dinner, washing up and driving the bus.

We hear so often of old people who don’t get out or aren’t able to – these lunch clubs are a lifeline for many and provides them with a hot meal and good company.
