Rake Lane Cemetery targeted again
This afternoon, I visited the Chapel in Rake Lane Cemetery to see for myself the damage caused by local vandals. The Chapel hasn’t been used for six months; I was horrified by what the vandals had done; they smashed the altar, destroyed the stained glass windows and artificial flowers were strewn around, not to mention the mess made by pigeons who had managed to get inside. It was extremely sad to see such a lovely Chapel reduced to this state.
I’ve worked with the Friends of Rake Lane Cemetery since it was formed to try to protect the area, along with Cllr Karen Hayes and Tony Pritchard. The group was set up 18 months ago after four youths caused over £1m of damage to gravestones. The Council have spent money on new fencing and lockable gates, but looking at the damage that’s been done they need to invest far more to make it safe from these yobs.
I hope the council has learned lessons from Liscard Hall and don’t allow this historical Chapel to be destroyed and that they protect it from further damage.
Rake Lane cemetry chapel just sounds like Flaybrick Cemetry Chapels and look what happened to them

hello everyone, i walk my dogs most days thro the cemetery, i do let them off there leads, but i always clean up after them, as do most dog owners i meet, and most of them, like myself, say that there dogs usually go in there own gardens before going to the cemetery. however, i have seen certain owners who dont do this and i would like to do something about this but what? if i follow them home and obtain there adress will it get followed up? ive objected about this to some of them but they usually just walk away. where are the patrols that are supposed to enforce the rules, ive not seen one in over 2 years? regards, jimi wright
